Barbara EDINGER
Actress & Voice Actress
About Me
Acting has been my calling for a very long time before I realized it. Even as a kid, I never really knew what to say when the grown-ups wanted to know about my future career plans. I never knew what to choose, because the world has so many interesting and different things to offer that I wanted to learn and know about. My dad and I always loved to watch movies together and I was always amazed by the many adventures the actors had the chance to experience and loved how it always offered to learn something new, walk in someone else's shoes every time. But somehow, acting seemed like an unattainable career path for me back then.
After my Sinology studies and getting my Bachelor's degree, I finally realized that I didn't want to waste my time doubting myself anymore and took a leap - I applied for acting school and I made it!
Now here I am, all the more wiser, knowing that being an actress does not just offer me the chance to live many lives and gives me the opportunity to really put my qualities of empathy and sensitivity to good use, but that these very qualities, my strengths, can be a gift to others as well. Being able to touch people's hearts, give them the courage to feel or give them a sense of being seen or heard; Giving people joy or hope and comfort, or open their eyes and give them the opportunity of reflection; Creating connection, compassion and perhaps a bond between worlds. All these things and more are what I hope to be able to contribute through my work.

NEWS
"Bloodliners" has finally reached the stage of post-production! But we are still looking for people who want to help us make this shortfilm happen, as the financial aspect is slowing down the process of completion. You can contribute a few Euros to our Startnext campaign and help us bring Bloodliners to various Filmfestivals and big screens!
My most recent theater project is called "Fraumata Famosa". The title is a Greek and German wordplay: "Frau" (German for woman) and "traumata" (plural form of trauma), indicates that the play is about famous women who have had to endure trauma in their lives. These 5 famous women are Lady Macbeth, Medea, Gretchen, Lady Chatterly and Buhlschaft.
The play is in German only, but I will post some things on y instagram account in English as well. If you'd like to come see it in Vienna:
October 6th, 7th and 8th, Ateliertheater, 8pm .
Tickets available here
My last little update is dedicated to the people I've met this summer. I did a 2-week course "Acting for Film and TV" at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and it has been one of the most memorable and deeply transforming experiences in quite a while. I have been very fortunate to meet so many lovely and dedicated people - classmates and teachers - and it has given me more than I can ever explain with words. I am so thankful that I still get to stay in touch with my new friends and teachers and have them by my side even though we are seperated by many many miles. I am all the more dedicated to work on my craft and do more on screen work.
If you are going to the Viennale or the Austrian Film Festival 2022, let's connect and meet up! I'd be happy to meet new and familiar faces!
